Ladislav Bartoníček to become new SOTIO Chief Executive Officer

A new Chief Executive Officer of SOTIO, a biotechnology company belonging to the PPF Group, will become from 1st March 2014 one of the PPF shareholders, Ladislav Bartoníček (49). He will replace in the office Karel Nohejl (44) who will continue working at the PPF Group in other positions.

Ladislav Bartoníček is a graduate of the Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and in 1993 obtained an MBA degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology v New York. He joined the PPF Group in 1991 where he has held various positions. Between 1996 and 2006 he was the Chief Executive Officer of Česká pojišťovna and until 2013 was also a member of its Board of Directors. From 2007 until 2013 he held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Generali PPF Holding N.V., one of the largest insurance groups in Central and Eastern Europe. Currently he is a member of the SOTIO’s holding company management in charge of business development in China, and is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Energetický a průmyslový holdingu (EPH). In 2007 Ladislav Bartoníček became a PPF Group shareholder.

He has successfully accomplished this task, and today SOTIO is ready to launch the first global Phase III clinical trial of a medical drug against prostate cancer. Concurrently the company continues to develop treatment for patients suffering ovarian and lung cancer. During his tenure, SOTIO expanded its activities to the United States, China and Russia.
