Two awards for Radek Špíšek, SOTIO Supervisory Board Member

Doctor Radek Špíšek was on Friday November 16th, 2012 appointed Professor of Medical Immunology by the President of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus. Professor Radek Špíšek together with Prof. Jiřina Bartůňková dedicated more than ten years to research in the field of active cellular immunotherapy and its use in the treatment of cancer.

A few days before his appointment as a Professor, Radek Špíšek received Neuron price for scientists up to 40 years of age for research of the role of the immune system in controlling tumor growth with a focus on the treatment of prostate cancer. Neuron prize is awarded annually by Karel Janeček's Foundation.

Prof. Radek Špíšek, M.D., Ph.D. was born in 1975. He has been focusing on Immunology since his studies at the first Medical Faculty at Charles University. He completed part of his postgraduate studies at the Institute de Biology at the University of Nantes in France and graduated at the Department of Immunology of the 2nd Medical School of Charles University and University Hospital Motol. Between years 2005 – 2007, he joined the team of Prof. Ralph Steinman at Rockefeller University in New York. Prof. Ralph Steinmam received Nobel Prize for discovering the dendritic cells and their role in the immune system. Since 2010 Prof. Radek Špíšek has been Chief Scientific Officer at SOTIO.
